CONNEX Energy Meetup: Young Generation Embraces Sustainable Business & Innovation

“World Bank data shows that 43.2% of CO2 emissions in Indonesia come from coal. Reducing emissions from the transportation sector by converting gasoline vehicles to electric has the potential to reduce emissions by up to 76%,” said Erlangga Bayu, Founder of Electric Wheels & BTI Energy. Erlangga shared his experiences in creating business opportunities through his electric vehicle conversion company, Electric Wheels, and founding BTI Energy to support the transition to solar power (PLTS) as part of the solution to achieve net-zero emissions.

New Energy Nexus (NEX) Indonesia organized a discussion inviting young people active in environmental communities or organizations, aspiring entrepreneurs, and fellow startup enthusiasts. Held at the Dharma Negara Alaya (DNA) Art & Creative Hub in Bali, the discussion aimed to inspire young people to seize opportunities, particularly in developing sustainable innovations that can drive the green economy in Bali. Startup founders and C-level executives, including Erlangga Bayu, Founder of Electric Wheels & BTI Energy, and Alfina Febrilia Arantika, CEO of Griya Luhu, were invited to share their insights.

Key Takeaways

Kick-starting Your Startup Journey with the Aim of Helping the Community Reduce Emissions

“I was inspired to build my two startups from the seminars I attended. I also dared to seize opportunities in competitions and mentorship programs. Through these programs, I developed my business, expanded my network, and realized the importance of collaboration. In building sustainable businesses, it is crucial to have and work with the right team, who have expertise in what they are doing, don’t fear to engage with experts, and foster collaborative relationships. Besides having a solid team, it is important to know your market; hence, conduct market research, understand consumer needs, and ensure the product meets market demands.”
