COMPETITION 1

The Energy Policy Case Competition is a renewable energy policy challenge hosted in West Java by New Energy Nexus Indonesia in collaboration with SRE ITB – IYREF 2025. This competition empowers young minds to tackle real-world energy issues through critical thinking, innovation, and teamwork driving forward public policy solutions that support Indonesia’s clean energy future.

COMPETITION 2

In collaboration with SRE UI – REENERGIZE, the RES x NEX STEP XCHANGE 2025 Energy Policy Case Competition (E-PCC) invites passionate students to tackle pressing energy policy issues in the DKI Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi region. It’s a team-based competition (2–3 members) that builds policy analysis, and strategic decision-making skills.

Participants engage with real-world energy challenges and develop innovative policy recommendations using case studies co-developed with DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Service (TKTE), ensuring solutions are tailored to local needs. The final stage will be evaluated by a panel of policymakers and key stakeholders in the energy sector.

Hopefully there will be more workshops like this so that not only young people…. but more people are aware of the energy transition and can have an impact on accelerating the energy transition policy itself. NEXSTEP XChange 2024

In 2024, NEX STEP XChange supported youth through a series of regionally anchored workshops and competitions. It featured a policy debate for university students and a case competition for youth across Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Bali, DI Yogyakarta, and East Nusa Tenggara, with a total prize pool of IDR 56 million. Top contestants had the opportunity to dialogue directly with policymakers and build networks with cleantech professionals, startup founders, and government officials.

The initiative also included expert-led policy workshops focused on region specific energy strategies with lectures, case studies, and collaborative policy labs. Through partnerships with student associations from universities like ITB, ITS, UI, and UGM, NEX STEP XChange aimed to bridge the gap between youth and energy policymaking, nurturing the next generation of clean energy advocates and innovators.
