Difabike: Driving inclusive and green mobility forward in Yogyakarta

“This has been so much fun!” said Triyono, CEO of Difabike,

when he was asked to describe his experience joining the KINETIK NEX Entrepreneurship Program. For Triyono, the program is more than a competition. He sees it as a learning space that helps Difabike strengthen its innovations and expand the social impact of its business.

Difabike is a startup providing inclusive, environmentally friendly transportation services using electric vehicles. Their services are designed for customers with special mobility needs and persons with disabilities who often face barriers in public spaces. In a city like Yogyakarta, where accessible mobility facilities remain limited, Difabike offers a much-needed solution. They provide transportation options that allow people with disabilities to move more freely, carry out daily activities, and access public services with greater comfort and confidence.

To date, Difabike has served more than 1,000 customers, 80 percent of whom are persons with disabilities and 20 percent their families. Its operations are run by 50 drivers with mild disabilities, including five women. Difabike intentionally recruits individuals who lack access to higher education or those who face social vulnerability due to disability, reflecting its commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable economy.

Their mission is to widen opportunities for persons with disabilities—both as service users and as economic actors—stems from Yogyakarta’s enormous tourism potential. During his final pitch at the [RE]Spark Clean Energy & Climate Startup Festival 2025 Demo Day, Triyono highlighted that the city’s tourism economy circulates up to 23 trillion rupiah annually. Rather than letting vulnerable groups be left behind again, Difabike introduced two key innovations:
• Difabox – an affordable delivery service for bulky goods
• Difatour – an inclusive tourism service that allows persons with disabilities to explore the city safely and comfortably

Their five-minute pitch convinced the judges. Difabike was officially selected as one of the five recipients of the KINETIK NEX Entrepreneurship Program grant, with total support of up to IDR 1.6 billion.

“With this grant, we can further strengthen our institution, expand our outreach, and continue developing new innovations so Difabike can evolve into a professional social startup that can be replicated in major cities across Indonesia.”

The “Migunani” philosophy behind every journey

In one of the offline mentoring sessions, Triyono remarked, “In Javanese, we say something is migunani when it’s truly useful for the whole community.”
This is the spirit driving Difabike: electric vehicles that are environmentally friendly, an inclusive mobility system, and economic opportunities for groups who have long been marginalized.

As a founder, Triyono also shares advice for aspiring entrepreneurs:

“Start with the problem. Find the issue first, then study and research it thoroughly. Understand the root causes and the solutions. When you step into that space, what you build will genuinely benefit many people.”

Congratulations to Difabike – a reminder that social, environmental, and business innovation can move forward together.
