Leastric and Volto Sea Secure Funding for Clean Energy Pilot Projects in Bali

Bali, June 27, 2025 – New Energy Nexus Indonesia, through the Matangi Bali initiative, officially announces the selection of two startups to receive pilot project funding of Rp100 million each. This funding aims to support their business expansion in implementing clean energy solutions and environmentally friendly innovations in the Bali tourism region, aligning with Bali’s Clean Zero Emission target by 2045.

The two selected startups are Leastric, offering smart energy management solutions for building, and Volto Sea, developing dual battery systems and charging stations to support the electrification of fishing boats and electric vehicles in Sanur. Both startups have received support from Bhaga Utsaha Padruwen Desa Adat (BUPDA) Intaran – Sanur, indicating strong collaboration with local communities and institutions.

“Through this initiative, we aim to drive real adoption of clean energy innovations at the community level and foster a climate entrepreneurship mindset as the foundation for local-led green economic transformation,” said Rainy Putri, Program Manager at New Energy Nexus Indonesia.

Rainy added, “This support goes beyond funding, encompassing learning, partnerships, and long-term impact to help Bali achieve its Clean Zero Emission target. Leastric and Volto Sea have demonstrated strong commitment to delivering relevant and impactful solutions for the Bali-based community.”

Leastric: Energy Savings for Sustainable Tourism Businesses

Leastric will implement their smart energy management system in one hotel in Sanur. The primary goal is to enable real-time and accurate electricity consumption monitoring to identify major energy usage sources, allowing for more effective data-driven reduction strategies. Additionally, the solution provides carbon emission reports that hotels can use for reporting, supporting efforts to make Sanur a low-emission area.

“We believe energy efficiency is key to sustainability, especially in the tourism sector. Through this project, we aim to prove that our technology can help local businesses, including those led by women, save energy and be more environmentally friendly,” said Marilyn Parhusip, CEO of Leastric.

Volto Sea: Driving Energy Transition in Coastal Communities

Volto Sea will establish charging stations and dual battery systems to support electric fishing boats and land-based electric vehicles in Sanur. The project targets direct challenges faced by coastal communities, such as dependence on fossil fuels and high operational costs.

“Local fisherfolks and coastal communities need clean, affordable, and self-managed energy solutions. We see significant opportunities to drive this transition through partnerships with customary villages and local stakeholders,” explained Putu Yindy Kurniawan, CEO of Volto Sea. “Support from Matangi Bali is helping us take crucial steps towards sustainable electrification of marine and land transportation.”
